War of Honor Formats
These rules cover formats for the War of Honor boxed multiplayer game, including formats that mix in cards and rules from the L5R CCG.
They refer to the War of Honor rulebook (14 MB download, pdf). A summary of multiplayer aspects of the L5R CCG rules, going beyond the base set rulebook which is written to support the two player game, can be found here. The Comprehensive Rules are written to support both two-player and multiplayer L5R.
For all formats, if you are playing a Stronghold without a Clan alignment, or one with a Clan alignment for which Fortress tiles have not been produced, you use the promotional Ronin Fortress tiles.
Basic Format
Only cards from the War of Honor boxed sets, and official War of Honor expansion cards and promos, are allowed in decks. Decks are otherwise constructed according to standard 40/40 deck construction rules. Play with the basic rules from War of Honor.
Current Format
All cards that are legal in the current format (currently, Emperor) are legal in this format, except for cards on the War of Honor Banned List (see below). Cards from the War of Honor boxed set, and official War of Honor expansion cards and promos, are also allowed. Decks are otherwise constructed according to standard 40/40 deck construction rules.
Play using the War of Honor Advanced Play rules (rulebook, page 40), which in turn refer to the L5R CCG rules and War of Honor Basic rules.

Cards last printed with a Celestial Edition bug follow modified wording to fit the current rules. See the Oracle of the Void for the updated wordings of such cards.
