Older Card Rulings R
From Legend of the Five Rings Rules
Rally Troops
- Read its text "...you control who are not assigned to a battle this turn" as "...you control in your home." [DW, 25 April 1997; Clarified, BC, 29 September 2008]
Rama Singh
- His text "paying for a Fate card" only refers to paying the amount of its Gold Cost stat, not any Gold costs in its abilities' constraints block. [ZF, 1 May 2005; Clarified, BC, 29 September 2008]
Ratling Conjuror
- Mispelled as "Ratling Conjurer" in Hidden City.
Ratling Village
- Renamed from Ratling Villages. [MRP]
- "To a minimum of 1" affects the Ratling Personality's total Gold cost for the same duration as the reduction by 2. Further Gold cost reductions, such as the 2 Gold discount for purchasing a Personality from one's own Faction, cannot be used to bring the card's cost to 0. [JA, 11 October 2005]
Refugees
- Can be used when you are not the Defender. [ZF, 1 February 2008]
Rend the Soul
- Should read, "Rend the Soul 0G 0FV If this card is focused in a duel, raise its Focus value by 5. If your Personality wins, the duel is considered a tie instead. Battle: Give one of your Personalities in this battle +5F. If that Personality is in your army when it wins this battle, this battle is tied instead. Your army cannot destroy Provinces this battle." [Erratum, JA, 27 August 2004]
Renewed Energy
- Straightening a Personality only occurs once for each player. [ZF, JA, 8 December 2003]
Reserve Commander
- Implicitly ignores attachment requirements and restrictions, because it says the new Personality is created "leading that unit." [ZF, 26 August 2003]
Restoring the Doji Treasury
- May not put into play a Gold-producing Fortification, because it could not attach to a province from which it entered play. [Reversal, JA, 16 January 2001]
Return of the Fallen Lord
- Has the Ritual keyword. [Erratum]
Revealing the Ancient Wisdom
- "Your Personality" in the second sentence refers only to your Personality targeted in the first; if he is replaced in the duel (i.e. He's Mine!) by another Personality with Double Chi, the new Personality's Double Chi is unaffected. [Reversal, JA, 14 March 2003; Clarified, BC, 29 September 2008]
Revering the Past
- You only need to get an Ancestor from your deck to avoid the Honor loss [JA, 18 July 2001], but if you do get an Ancestor, you must attach it if possible [ZF, 10 July 2002].
Ride Until Dawn
- Its text "...not assigned to any battle" should read "...in your home". [DW, 18 February 1997; Clarified, BC, 29 September 2008]
Ring of the Phoenix
- Reads, "Ring of the Phoenix, 3FV Fire • Unique After one of your actions resolves, if it was your third or later action this turn whose costs or effects destroyed any of your Phoenix Clan Personalities during a battle: You may put this card into play from your hand. Limited: Bow this card or discard it from your hand, and destroy one of your Phoenix Clan Personalities: Bring into play a dead Phoenix Clan Personality you own with equal or lower Gold Cost, paying all costs." [Erratum, 16 July 11]
Rise from the Ashes
- This card is banned in Legacy Format play (see Banned Cards).
Rosoku Sensei
- Reads, "Rosoku Sensei -1PS +0GP +0FH All Clans • Sensei While this Sensei is in play, it counts as a Ring for actions on cards. No more than one of your actions can put cards in your hand each phase." [Erratum, ML, 30 August 2006; Redundant wording removed and capitalization error corrected, BC, 29 September 2008]
Ruby of Iuchiban
- Renamed from The Ruby of Iuchiban.
