  • You may have zero Shugenja perform the Ritual (card text: "any number"). Doing so sets the Oni's stats to 0F/0C so that it immediately dies unless a continuous effect boosts its Chi (e.g., The Spawning Ground), because continuous effects assert themselves before triggered rulebook effects (see Timing).   • The Kitsu Tombs' Reaction can waive the cost of bringing Oni no Chi into play (bowing and destroying Shugenja). But, this does not change the fact that those Shugenja were still targeted under Legacy targeting rules (Citation). Thus, the number of Shugenja "participating" in (read: performing) the Ritual is unchanged and the Oni's stats are set to the appropriate amounts. [Reversal, BC, 27 September 2008]
