After one of your actions destroys another player's Shugenja or Monk: You may put this card into play from your hand. After this card enters play: Lose 5 Honor. Death of the Ki-Rin

Deeds, Not Words
- An Honor loss that was substituted for a gain is still considered to come from the source of the gain and retains any other effects (such as a restriction against the gain being negated). [15 July 1999]
- The affected player gains 1 honor from winning duels with no stated honor gain. [ZF, May 2000]
Defensive Duty
- The Personality is discarded at the end of the battle regardless of where he or she is (e.g., in play). [Card text; JA, email, 4 December 2002]
Desperate Measures
- If it appears in your last province, you lose before the other player's province is destroyed. [RD, 19 May 1997; Partial reversal, BC, 14 September 2008]
- If an opponent plays Defenders of the Realm for his or her own Province, it does not save your Province, because that effect has already resolved. [JA, 18 March 2003]
Determination
- Reads, "Determination 0G 4FV Dark Virtue Reaction: After you announce an action, target one of your Samurai: The action cannot have its effects negated or have its targeting changed. After the action destroys any Personality, remove him from the game." [Erratum, 24 November 2008]
- An action that is affected by Determination can negate an earlier action that had also been affected by Determination. [ML, 30 July 2007]
- Does not circumvent a card's own self-negation clauses or self-imposed minimums or maximums (e.g., "This cannot raise a player's honor above his starting Family honor;" "This cannot reduce Chi below 1"). [ML, 13 November 2007]

Doji Akiko (Experienced)

Doji Konishiko
