[edit] Bakeneko

  • Ability is usable once per battle. [Erratum]

[edit] Bane of the Bastard

  • Should read, "Target any number of face-up Dynasty cards...". [JA, 7 April 2003]

[edit] Barracks

  • The Attacker gains 2 Honor for destroying Barracks in battle, because it acts as a defending unit, including being destroyed like one. [VRD, 4 December 2000]
  • Under the effects of Kaiu Sensei, the Barracks' unit is present in every battle during the Attack Phase, and will be destroyed if the attacking army's force at any province is larger than the defending army's force at that province. [JA, January 2001]
  • Read the text that it "cannot leave a battle" as "does not". [BC, 07 August 2008]

[edit] Barren Fields

  • Effect must be applied as much as possible, but its effect ends if the only cards left do not bow or have their bowing repeatedly, involunarily negated (e.g., Shadow Dragon Experienced). [JA, email, 24 May 2005; Clarified, BC, 07 August 2008]

[edit] Bayushi Aramoro (Experienced 3)

  • The Soul of the Empire version should be Experienced 3, not Experienced 2. [Erratum, JA, 14 July 2000]

[edit] Bayushi Goshiu (Experienced 2)

  • The duration of his trait's effect is permanent, continuing even if he leaves play. [DW, email]

[edit] Bayushi Hisa (Experienced 2)

  • His ability removes all Dynasty cards in the province, if there is more than one. [ZF, 8 August 2000]

[edit] Bayushi Kwanchai (Experienced)

  • His text "battle or duel resolution" means "battle resolution or duel resolution". [JA, 18 September 2003]

[edit] Bayushi Paneki

  • His "+3 Personal Honor" is a bonus while attaching a Follower; thus, it does not supercede the maximum imposed if he is dishonorable. [VRD, 23 July 2001; Clarified, BC, 09 August 2008]

[edit] Bayushi Kyo

  • An army cannot destroy a Province when his trait forces a tie, because the "If the Armies Tie" result in a battle does not check for province destruction. [ZF, 23 October 2003; Clarified, BC, 09 August 2008]

[edit] Bayushi Shoju (Inexperienced)

  • The Honor loss does not apply cards discarded to pay costs. [Partial reversal, see Play.]
  • You re-swap your entire hands after the battle, even if hands contain cards of mixed ownership. [Card text, DW, email, 14 September 1998]

[edit] Bayushi Togai

  • Togai can attach any Poison card regardless of that card's restrictions. You must still pay any non-Gold costs. [Erratum, Fire & Shadow rulebook]

[edit] Bayushi Yojiro

  • If brought into play while your family honor is below zero (e.g., Hoshi Sensei), he is not immediately destroyed, but is destroyed if your family honor ever decreases while below zero. [ZF, netnews, 24 April 2001]

[edit] Bend Like a Reed

  • Due to changes in dueling rules, ignore its text "as if it were played a focus." It now gives +2C until the end of the turn (due to the default duration of effects). [BC, 07 August 2008]

[edit] Birth of the Wolf

  • You can only choose to have both effects try to resolve, or neither. I.e., you can increase you hand size if you have 0 or 1 cards in hand and "discard" them, but you cannot if you have 2 or more cards in hand and do not discard 2. [ZF, 12 April 2003]

[edit] Bitter Vengeance

  • One of the two effects must happen if possible. I.e., a player who does not lose honor must discard Fate cards. [JA, email, 25 April 2002]

[edit] Blackened Sky

  • An action that produces a Ranged Attack and some other effect(s) is legal. [ZF, 2 August 2000]

[edit] Black Market

  • Honor loss when producing gold is an effect, not a cost. [Erratum, ZF, 2 August 2000]

[edit] Blacksmiths

  • Gold production for Weapons and Armor is not affected by Corrupted Iron Mines, because Corrupted Iron Mines make Blacksmiths produce one less gold "instead of" one more, and there is no mine-based increase on the second production. [JA, 5 May 2003]

[edit] Bleeding the Elements

  • Bowing the Bloodspeaker is a cost, but may be paid with any player's Personality. [Erratum, Ambition's Debt Rulebook; Card text.]

[edit] Bo Stick

  • Determination of whether an opponent's card is a legal focus is based on its current Focus Value just before it would be focused. [17 May 1999; Clarified, BC, 07 August 2008]

[edit] Breach of Etiquette

  • This card is banned in Legacy Format play (see Banned Cards).

[edit] Brilliant Artisan

[edit] Broad Front

  • Does not override the restriction of the Limited action creating a Raid Battle on Aramasu's Pride. [CF, 22 May 2006]
  • Province destruction is an effect of Battle. [CF, 26 May 2006]

[edit] Burning Your Essence

  • The text "...or ability resolves" also refers to the Tactical player ability in the Rulebook referenced earlier in its text. [JA, email, 1 July 2001; Clarified, BC, 07 August 2008]

[edit] Byoki no Oni

  • Renamed from Oni no Byoki. [MRP, Diamond Edition]

[edit] By Will of the Wind

  • Is not a Wind action. [Keyword rule exception, erratum, JA, 11 September 2001]
