[edit] A Black Scroll is Opened

  • The Chi penalty is not a one-time effect. It is a change to game state that will affect cards which enter play during its duration and is recalculated when its conditions change (i.e. a Shugenja attaches another Spell).

[edit] Agasha Miyoshi

  • A Dragon retreived with her ability is placed in the Province face-up. [Erratum, JA, 15 December 2004]

[edit] Agasha Mumoko

  • The phrase, "if there are Shadowlands cards in the opposing army," is a condition of taking the action, not just a condition of the effect. [JA, 9 February 2001]

[edit] Aka Mizu-Umi

  • Negates any effects from an Event destroying the Province, including ongoing ones (e.g., Doom of the Dark Lord). [JA, 31 May 2002]

[edit] Akodo Bakin

  • Ability he grants may be used any number of times per turn. [Erratum, Lotus Edition rulebook, 31 October 2005]

[edit] Akodo Chikafusa

  • Ability he grants may be used any number of times per turn. [Erratum, Lotus Edition rulebook, 31 October 2005]

[edit] Akodo Kage

  • The limit upon how many tokens a Personality may have is a trait of the tokens themselves.

[edit] Akodo Mokichi

  • Ability she grants may be used any number of times per turn. [Erratum, Lotus Edition rulebook, 31 October 2005]

[edit] Akodo Sadahige

[edit] Akodo Sensei

  • Its first trait makes your dishonorable Personalities' maximum Force 0. [BC, 13 September 2008]
  • Its second trait is continuous and the prohibition against gaining Force bonuses only applies to the Personalities who have Tactician because of it. [JA, 23 November 2000; VRD, 8 November 2000]

[edit] Akodo Toturi

  • Name changed to Toturi. [MRP]

[edit] Alliance

  • Its effects are cumulative with multiple resolutions of itself (i.e. via Moon and Sun) and with the rule allowing you to pay 2 less Gold for a Personality with your Faction alignment, if that Personality also has the alignment you select. [JA, 10 October 2000]

[edit] A Matter of Pride

  • Its text "prevents" should be read as "negates". [JA, 25 March 2002; Clarified, BC, 13 September 2008]

[edit] A Moment of Truth

  • Two different Action cards were printed with this title (in Anvil of Despair and Time of the Void). They are considered distinct from each other for the purposes of deck construction. [DW, 16 September 1997]

[edit] Ancestors Possess the Living

  • The phrase, "an Ancestor... that the Personality could legally attach if you controlled the Personality," does not take the current game state into account (i.e. whether the Personality already has an Ancestor, or if the Ancestor you wish to discard is Unique and in play). [Reversal, BC, 13 September 2008]

[edit] Ancestral Dictate

  • The granted ability is gained permanently. [Erratum, JA, 7 November 2000]
  • The granted ability does not target the Personality it is moving home; its reference to the "the target Personality" only refers back to Ancestral Dictate's initial targeting and is not new targeting unto itself. [BC, 13 September 2008]

[edit] Animate the Dead

  • Its text "...bring a Follower back into play..." means it can only retrieve Followers that were in play at some point during the game.

[edit] Armor of Earth

  • There is no cost reduction for having the Ring of Earth in play. [Erratum, JA, email, 5 January 2003]

[edit] Armor of the Ebony Samurai

  • Is not a Samurai. [Keyword rule exception]

[edit] Armor of the Golden Samurai

  • Is not a Samurai. [Keyword rule exception]

[edit] Arms Smugglers

  • Does not straighten before your third turn even if brought into play normally. [ZF, 25 May 2006]

[edit] Asahina Dorai (Experienced)

  • Chi loss is a cost of his ability.

[edit] Asako Yasu

  • His ability functions identically to Asako Ryoma's. [BC, 13 Semptember 2008]

[edit] Asatte

[edit] Ashlim

  • The removal of the Shadowlands keyword is permanent. [Fire & Shadow rulebook erratum to MRP, Ambition's Debt foil]

[edit] At'tok'tuk Sensei

  • Ratling Personalities acquire your Faction's keyword. This applies continually to all Ratling Personalities you control and in your deck, provinces, and discard piles; a card that changes controllers or loses Ratling may gain or lose your alignment. [Reversal]
